Teen charged with robbery by sudden snatching

A 17-year-old arrested last week on charges of child cruelty and participation in criminal street gang activity has now been charged in a reported robbery that occurred on February 27 in West Rome.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Adam Taylor Henández snatched $770 in cash from the hand of a 15-year-old on Towers Drive.

Hernandez, who is an alleged member of the Kutthroat street gang, was originally jailed on March 3 for allegedly letting a 4-year-old child handle a 9mm pistol and taking a picture of the child with a cigarette in its mouth back on February 11 on Trove Drive.

Warrant: Man let child be around aggressive dog

A Lindale man was arrested at his Davis Street home over the weekend on charges of 2nd-degree cruelty to children and reckless conduct.

According to Floyd County Jail records and an arrest warrant:

39-year old Daniel Ray Baldwin allowed a 3-year old child to be around a dog known to be aggressive.

The dog attacked the child, who sustained lacerations to the arm and puncture wounds to the leg.

The incident occurred on February 10, according to the warrant.

Woman charged with child cruelty, simple assault

A Coosa woman was jailed over the weekend following an incident on Turner Bend Road.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

49-year old April Dawn Salmon stated that she was willfully withholding property to extort money and began yelling and cursing while exiting the house, causing a 2-year-old child to cry.

Salmon then lunged to the porch while threatening the victim and heading in the direction of a large kitchen knife that was on the porch.

She also resisted arrest and tried to pull away from the police.

Salmon is charged with 2nd-degree cruelty to children, simple assault, disorderly conduct, and obstruction.

Man accused of strangling woman

A 24-year-old Rome man is facing a felony aggravated assault charge following his arrest at his Keown Road residence on Saturday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Clayton William Grant grabbed a woman by the throat and strangled her to the point where she could not breathe.

He also damaged property in the home and fled on foot while being questioned by police.

Grant is additionally charged with criminal trespass with damage to property and misdemeanor obstruction.
