Charges have now been filed in an attempted armed robbery at a store in West Rome on December 30, and the suspect is the same man who police said robbed the store of $2,500 at gunpoint on December 20.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

25-year-old Jacquez D’Anthony Jolly returned to the City Center Food Mart at 522 Shorter Avenue, wearing the same clothing with his face covered by a medical mask.

He was wearing gloves and was armed with a handgun.

Jolly tried to get into the store but could not because the doors were locked.

When the responding officer arrived at the scene and got out of his patrol vehicle, Jolly, who had gone around to the rear of the store, took off running.

The officer gave chase but lost sight of Jolly who was last seen running north on Dougherty Street toward Decatur Street.

Jolly who was arrested later that same day for the first robbery, is now additionally charged with criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, loitering or prowling, and obstruction of law enforcement.
