For the second year in a row, the members of the Exchange Club of Rome have adopted the presentation of socks to those in need as the cold winter months approach.
This year the Exchange members presented 901 pairs of socks consisting of men’s socks going to the residents of the Davies Men’s Shelter, and ladies’ and children’s socks for the residents of the Davies Women’s Shelter.
This Community Service Project of the Exchange Club recognizes that socks are one of the most requested items needed by local shelters and other programs helping those in need in Rome and across the nation as the temperatures begin to fall.
In receiving this gift, Bill Davies praised the Exchange members for their support of the shelter’s residents in their time of need. Davies said a portion of the contributed socks will also be shared with other organizations working with the homeless and disadvantaged.
The Exchange Club of Rome is a service club that is pledged to making Rome and Floyd County a better place for citizens to live, work, and play. Community Service is just one of the programs of service carried out by members with the others being Americanism, Youth Programs, and the Prevention of Child Abuse.
