Summerville man accused of assaulting woman at Rome motel

A Summerville man was arrested late last week on a felony aggravated assault charge.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

28-year-old Elijah Vernon Ellenwood-Shaw assaulted a woman at an inn on Martha Berry Boulevard.

He also confined the victim in a room.

The incident occurred in front of a child.

Ellenwood-Shaw is also charged with false imprisonment and 3rd-degree cruelty to children.

Man charged with felony obstruction

A 63-year-old Rome man is accused of trying to hit a law enforcement officer as he was being placed under arrest back on October 26 at his Carrington Place residence.

According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:

Tommy Lamar Howard also threatened to beat up the officer.

The day before, Howard lost control of his vehicle when the axle broke.

It traveled off the roadway and onto the grassy area of a home on Doncaster Drive where it struck a tree before hitting the driveway and traveling into a ditch.

Howard exited the vehicle and left the scene.

He is charged with felony obstruction, hit and run, driving an unsafe vehicle, DUI, and driving with a suspended license.

Alabama man accused of stealing vehicle

A 33-year-old Gadsden, Alabama man has been arrested on a felony warrant for theft by taking a motor vehicle. 

According to the warrant:

Ewin Alan Reed Jr. arranged a lease agreement for a Saturn Ion but ceased all payments and failed to return the vehicle.

Reed was arrested at a location on Forrest Avenue in Rome late last week.

Man charged with theft of services, tampering with a public utility

A Lindale man is accused of stealing $1,600 in electricity from Georgia Power.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Glenn Franklin Hamilton also tried to hide from law enforcement and attacked an officer.

Hamilton was found with methamphetamine and two glass pipes.

He is charged with theft of services, tampering with utility services, felony obstruction, possession of meth, and possession of drug-related objects. 

Gordon County man arrested on drug charges in Rome

A Fairmount man was recently booked into the Floyd County Jail on a felony possession of methamphetamine charge.

According to jail records:

52-year old Samuel David Baker was found with meth at a location on Garrard Avenue in West Rome.
