The Rome Alcohol Control Commission will once again discuss the possible elimination of variances when it meets Monday.
Establishments that serve liquor must garner at least half of their revenue from the sale of food unless a variance is granted.
There are currently three establishments that have been granted variances.
The Rome City Commission recently tabled a proposed small bar ordinance that would permit establishments under 1,200 square feet to sell liquor without having to sell food with some restrictions. The ordinance would have also eliminated the need for variances. It was sent back to the Rome Alcohol Control Commission for further study.
The ACC will also discuss the elimination of the food-to-drink ratio for food trucks.
Also on the agenda, is the approval of a new beer, wine, and liquor package license request for Cherokee Valley, LLC at the corner of Riverside Parkway and Riverside Industrial Drive.
The request was originally approved on April 17, 2023, and extended on October 16, 2023 and again on April 15 of this year.
Monday’s ACC meeting begins at 5 p.m. at Rome City Hall.
