-Staff reports-
If you want to enter this year’s Rome Christmas Parade, you can register now online.
The deadline to enter will be November 1 and late entries will not be accepted this year.
According to Jerry Rucker, the limited entry period is in part due to last year’s parade being so large.
“We have done everything over the years, as you know, to limit the parade,” he said. It just kept getting bigger. The next thing we knew, we were up from Broad Street all the way back by the Rome News-Tribune, and back up to Broad Street, so we just had to limit that.”
The number of entries will be limited to 125, and so far close to 70 have already signed up.
According to Rucker, there will be a time change this year.
“The parade actually will be in at 7 o’clock, not 630,” he said. “Everybody needs to mark that on the calendar– that’s when the parade will be this year– 7 o’clock, and if you’ve got a float that’s going to be in the parade and if you want to be judged, it will be judged between 6 PM and 7 PM before the parade kicks off.”
Registration will take place online at www.romechristmasparade.com.
The theme for this year’s parade, which will be on Tuesday, December 3, is “A Christmas Carol.”
