-Rome Police Department report-

Rome Police responded to a ‘shots fired’ call in the West Rome area Monday evening.

According to the incident report:

A responding officer heard multiple shots that appeared to be coming from a semi-automatic rifle or pistol.

It was determined the shots were coming from a residence on Mississippi Drive.

Officers went to the home and attempted to make contact multiple times, but the people inside refused to cooperate with one of them telling the officers to leave the property.

Determining the men had no desire to speak with the officers, were intoxicated, and had unknown weapons, the decision was made to disengage and document the incident.

Neighbors told police this has been an ongoing situation with Hispanic males getting drunk and shooting from their back porch at night.
