Calhoun man charged in fatal ATV crash

Charges have been filed in a fatal ATV crash that occurred back on May 17 on Boone Ford Road in Gordon County.

24-year-old Thomas James Butler of Calhoun is charged with felony 1st-degree vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, open container, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, and driving on the wrong side of the road.

According to the Georgia State Patrol:

Butler was driving the ATV when it crashed, killing a passenger.

State troopers were unable to interview Butler, who had been transported to Atrium Health Floyd, but were unable due to his injuries.

A search warrant was obtained a few days later for blood samples which were sent to the GBI crime lab.
