Gas prices down a penny

Georgia gas prices are down another penny from a week ago.

The average of $3.22 is also 14 cents less than a month ago and 41 cents less than this time last year.

It costs drivers an average price of $48.30 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians are paying $2.00 less to fill up at the pump compared to a month ago.

“The slight rise in crude oil last week has put a damper on the prior decline in gas prices, muddying the waters of hope for cheaper fuel this week,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman.

Local averages on Monday were $3.13 in Floyd County, $3.12 in Gordon County, $3.17 in Bartow County, $3.08 in Chattooga County, and $3.20 in Polk County.

Nationally

Gas Prices Continue to Dip

Since last Monday, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline decreased by 3 cents to $3.41 (subject to change overnight).

According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand edged higher last week from 8.96 million barrels a day to 9.04. Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline stocks fell from 225.1 to 222.2 million barrels. Gasoline production decreased slightly last week, averaging 9.7 million barrels per day. Tepid gasoline demand and stable oil costs may cause pump prices to slide further.
