Inmate accused of trying to smuggle drugs into prison

A Lilburn man is accused of conspiring with three other inmates to smuggle contraband into the Floyd County Prison in July of 2022.

According to the arrest warrants:

49-year-old Isaac Azriel Ross and the others used the prison phone system to arrange for a civilian to leave a bag in a garbage can at the Rome-Floyd Recycling Center on Lavender Drive.

The bag contained 32 grams of methamphetamine and 257 grams of marijuana.

Ross is charged with conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Controlled Substances Act, possession of items prohibited for inmates, possession of meth, possession of marijuana, and possession of drugs within 1,000 feet of a school.

Man charged following damage at jail

An inmate at the Floyd County Jail has been charged with a felony count of interference with government property.

According to jail records:

17-year-old Izavius Kyree Mobbs of Summerville damaged a sprinkler head inside the jail.

Mobbs is also being held for Chattooga County authorities.

Man charged with theft, heroin possession

A 30-year-old Turner Chapel Road man has been arrested on charges of theft by taking and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.

According to the warrants:

Christopher Matthew Jacks took a vehicle without the owner’s permission and kept it before returning it on July 15.

Jacks was also found with suspected heroin after an overdose on July 30, 2022.

The substance was sent to the GBI crime lab where it tested positive for heroin and fentanyl.

Man arrested following traffic stop

A Silver Creek man was arrested Thursday during a traffic stop on Cedar Avenue at Darlington Drive.

According to Floyd County Jail records: 

46-year-old Robert Carl Smith was a passenger in the vehicle and was searched following a K9 indication.

He was then found with synthetic marijuana and hypodermic needles.

Smith is charged with possession of synthetic marijuana and possession of drug-related objects.

Man charged with meth possession

A Rome man was arrested Thursday at his Dean Avenue residence on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug-related objects.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

32-year-old Donovan James Boileau was found with a syringe containing methamphetamine which he intended to inject.
