Two now charged with murder in deadly shooting in Shannon

Authorities say the gun that was used in a deadly shooting Sunday night in Shannon had been stolen.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

22-year-old Tyler Michael Zacher and 20-year-old Jayden Patrick Fiorito entered a Hyundai Sonata and a Chevy Silverado on Pippin Place and took a Glock firearm, along with other items.

While in possession of the stolen firearm, Fiorito caused the death of 19-year-old Brandson Long, who sustained a gunshot wound to the pelvis area.

Both Fiorito and Zacher are charged with felony murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, entering an automobile, and theft by taking articles from a vehicle.

They were initially arrested on charges of false statements and obstructing an investigation.

A third person, 48-year-old Stephanie Eugenia Shuler of Rome, is charged with tampering with evidence and obstruction for allegedly disposing of the firearm and misleading investigators.

Floyd County Police are investigating a shooting incident in the Shannon area Sunday evening that left one young man wounded and another dead.

According to Floyd County Police Public Affairs Director Michael Bell, police were told that one of the men grabbed a gun from another person and it went off.

20-year-old Jayden Patrick Fiorito was shot in the hand while 19-year-old Brandson Long was shot in the pelvis area and later died.

According to Deputy Floyd County Coroner Jordan Pierson, Long’s body will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The men showed up at the fire station on Burlington Road seeking aid at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

It is believed the shooting occurred on the East Second Street Extension in Shannon.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Tyler Michael Zacher and Fiorito, both of Rome, have been charged with making false statements and obstructing an investigation.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Both men attempted to hide details of their involvement in the shooting by giving false information regarding where the incident occurred.

Also, 48-year-old Stephanie Eugenia Shuler of Rome was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence and obstruction.

She is accused of disposing of the firearm and misleading investigators.
