Calhoun man charged with meth trafficking

A Calhoun man was arrested after wrecking his vehicle on Kerce Road at Fulton Road in the Kingston area on Sunday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

30-year-old Michael Hunter Garrett was passed out behind the wheel and was suspected of being under the influence.

He then refused to get out of the car and punched firefighters.

Garrett was found with 57.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine, packaging materials, and digital scales.

He is charged with obstruction of officers and firefighters, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, meth trafficking, DUI, and failure to maintain a lane.

Woman accused of child cruelty

A Rome woman is facing two counts of 1st-degree cruelty to children following an incident Saturday at her Woods Road home.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

35-year-old Rebecca Lynn Hillburn hit a 17-year-old and scratched a 16-year-old, leaving visible marks.

Hillburn is also charged with battery and simple battery.

Teen accused of having stolen firearm

A Rome teenager is accused of being in possession of a stolen firearm during a traffic stop back on April 20.

According to an arrest warrant:

The Taurus 9mm was stolen during a vehicle break-in in which 19-year-old Da’Rahjae Marcel Hames was involved in.

Hames is charged with theft by receiving stolen property.

Woman charged with meth possession, criminal trespass

A 40-year-old Rome woman was jailed late last week on charges of criminal trespass and possession of methamphetamine.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Shauna Star Easterwood was found with a plastic bag of suspected meth in her right, back pocket.

She was on the victim’s Legion Drive property in Lindale after previously being banned.

Easterwood is also charged with a probation violation.
