81-year old killed in motorcycle crash in Calhoun

 A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon after a collision with an SUV on Red Bud Road.

According to information from Calhoun Police Department:

Tomas Garcia Marquez Jr., 81, of Calhoun was riding his motorcycle westbound on Red Bud Road when he lost control and began to fishtail. Garcia Marquez crossed over into oncoming traffic in the eastbound lane and struck the right front passenger side of an SUV.

Garcia Marquez proceeded onto the sidewalk and came to rest on an embankment right before Garden Heights Apartments, near the intersection with Highpoint Drive.

Garcia Marquez was pronounced dead on the scene by Coroner Bo Nicholson. Gordon County Coroner’s office has released his identity late Tuesday afternoon after contacting his next of kin.
