A Plainville man was recently arrested following a chase with Gordon County Sheriff’s deputies.
According to Sheriff Mitch Ralston:
On Thursday night, May 25, deputies on patrol in the Plainville area observed a suspicious automobile on Brownlee Mountain Road.
They stopped this vehicle and attempted to arrest the driver who violently resisted and drove away at a high rate of speed with the deputies in pursuit.
The chase lasted several minutes until a deputy performed the PIT maneuver and forcibly stopped the suspect vehicle.
The driver and sole occupant of the car, identified as Zachary B. Lusk, age 43, of Hammond Drive in Plainville, was then taken into custody.
A search of Lusk’s automobile revealed drugs and drug paraphernalia.
He was jailed and charged with trafficking in fentanyl (Schedule I controlled substance), driving under the influence, fleeing from officers, and other traffic offenses.
A search of Gordon County Superior Court records revealed 2018 convictions for drug-related offenses and obstructing law enforcement officers.
Lusk is currently listed as being on State supervised probation.
