ere’s the latest on the upcoming storm system that is expected to begin affecting the area with gusty winds as early as tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. The heavy rain/severe potential holds off until late tomorrow evening and overnight… continuing into Thursday for parts of our southern and eastern counties. Please read below for more details.

Main points / highlights:

  • Wind Advisory has been issued for much of north and central Georgia beginning around 11AM Wednesday and continuing through 8AM Thursday. 
    • Sustained winds 15-30 mph with gusts of 35-45 mph at times can be expected.
  • The risk for severe weather will increase (from west to east) across the area after 10 PM tomorrow (Wednesday) evening. An ENHANCED risk (level 3 of 5) is touching the Alabama/Georgia state line mainly for strong/damaging winds but a few tornadoes are possible as well.
  • Heavy rain will accompany the line of showers and storms with widespread 1-2 inches expected. 
    • IMPACTS? Several fast-responding creeks and streams will likely approach flood stage in addition to an elevated threat of isolated flash flooding.
