Flood Warnings in Gordon County and Cherokee County, Alabama

Several rivers continue to respond to the recent heavy rainfall, so river flooding remains a concern across portions of north and central Georgia.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City GA has issued a Flood Warning for the Oostanaula River near Calhoun affecting Gordon County.

Langford Road, Sam Hunt Road, Mauldin Road, Cook Road, and Thomas Bluff Road are closed due to flooding.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads.

Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flood Warning is also in effect for a portion of central Alabama, including Cherokee County until Saturday morning.

Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

At 9:08 AM CST, reporting gauges indicate elevated levels along the Chattooga River above Weiss Lake. This will cause lowland flooding along the Chattooga River Above Weiss Lake.

River levels are expected to crest today and fall below minor flood stage tonight.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Cedar Bluff, Gaylesville, Cornwall Furnace Park, Eastern Weiss Lake and Western Weiss Lake.
