One dead in Alabama fire

An early morning house fire on College Street in Centre – has claimed the life of a 51-year-old woman.

According to Cherokee County Coroner Paul McDonald, the victim has been identified as Sherry Denise Doyle, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

Firefighters with the Centre, Cedar Bluff, Leesburg and Spring Creek departments all converged on the house, which was already in flames around 3:30 Tuesday morning.  Also responding were Floyd EMS, the Centre PD and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

A cause for the blaze has yet to be determined.
