Initial unemployment insurance claims fall again in November

We continue to see a decline in the number of Floyd County residents filing first-time claims for unemployment insurance.

According to the Georgia Department of Labor, there were 117 claims filed in November, which is down from 230 in October, and 990 in November of 2020.

In Bartow County, there were just 136 claims last month, down from 189 the month before, and down from the 1,209 filed this time last year.

There were 83 claims in Gordon County, down from 166 the month before and 702 in November of last year.

Polk County was down from 102 to 47 over the month.  There were 372 in November of 2020.

However, Chattooga County saw one more claim in November when compared to the 40 filed in October.

There were 79 initial UI claims in Chattooga County this time last year.

The Rome area has seen an increase of about 1,200 jobs from November 2020 to November of 2021.

The 41,500 jobs are also up by 300 when compared to last month.
