The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Communications Commission will conduct a national test of the Wireless Emergency Alert & the Emergency Alert System on Wednesday.
At around 2:20 p.m., a wireless emergency alert will be sent to all cell phones that have opted in for the test messages.
It will simply say “This is a test…No further action is needed.”
The Integrated Public Alert Systems Act was enacted in 2016 and it requires a test every three years.
