GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH
We are seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases and public health officials are concerned.
In Georgia, positivity rates have increased by 84% over the last two weeks.
In the 10-county Northwest Georgia region, the increase hasn’t been quite as dramatic.
Dr. Gary Voccio, health director for the Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest District, said the increase is due primarily to the Delta Variant of the virus.
Dr. Voccio said the best way to protect yourself is to get the COVID-19 vaccine, which is effective, even against the Delta Variant.
