Rome Police responded to a ‘shots fired’ call at the Tamassee Lane apartments just after midnight Monday.
According to the incident report:
The victim told officers that he was outside rapping with a man and the man almost hit a bag belonging to the victim that was sitting in a parking stall outside the J building.
An argument ensued and the suspect pulled out a firearm and began pistol-whipping the victim, which caused the gun to go off.
The victim grabbed the man to keep from being shot and the man started biting the victim, who sustained lacerations to the neck and chest.
The suspect dropped the gun and fled the scene in a vehicle.
