Two charged with meth trafficking
Two Rome residents were arrested during a drug bust on Old Calhoun Road over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
More than a kilo of methamphetamine was discovered during the execution of a search warrant.
42-year-old Marcus Andre Lackey and 17-year-old Kira Na’Toya Thompson were also found with suspected crack cocaine, more than an ounce of marijuana, scales, and packaging materials.
Both are charged with possession of meth, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, felony possession of marijuana, and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
Lackey is also being held on a probation violation.
Report: Man had machete on Pepperell High property, cut down trees at Gilbreath Park
A homeless man is accused of having a weapon in a school zone.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
37-year-old Robert Avery Garrett had a machete while on the property of Pepperell High School on Dragon Drive after 5 p.m. Friday.
He also cut down multiple decorative trees at Gilbreath Park off Garden Avenue.
Garrett is charged with carrying a weapon in a school safety zone, loitering in a school zone, and criminal trespass.
Man accused of stealing firearm
A LaFayette man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Sunday on charges of theft by taking and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
20-year-old Evan Blaine Adams took a Taurus firearm and $100 in cash from the victim at a location on Martha Berry Highway.
Adams is a convicted felon and also has probation violation warrants in Chattooga County.
