(According to a report by the Rome News-Tribune: ) Armuchee businessman Chip Hood has announced his candidacy for the vacant Post 4 Floyd County Commission seat, becoming the first to enter the race following the passing of long-serving Commissioner Larry Maxey.

A decade-long member of the Floyd County Board of Education and owner of Forevergreen Landscaping, Hood highlights his fiscal responsibility, including reducing the millage rate for eight of the last ten years.

Hood hopes to emphasize his readiness to bring a business-minded approach to the commission.

Qualifying for the nonpartisan election is set for Jan. 27-29, with the election scheduled for March 18th.
