Floyd County E-911 and local law enforcement agencies are warning the public about scams circulating on social media.
Officials emphasize that legitimate calls for public assistance will appear on multiple public safety platforms from verified law enforcement accounts.
Posts with disabled comments, lacking official alerts, or originating from suspicious profiles with few posts or recent creation dates are often hoaxes.
Additionally, searching the first few words of such posts on Facebook can reveal identical scams shared with different locations but the same image.
Authorities urge vigilance to avoid falling victim to these scams.
