Man charged with aggravated assault, exploitation or intimidation of the elderly

A 57-year-old Rome man is accused of assaulting his mother at his residence on Mathis Road back on March 18.

According to an arrest warrant:

Larry Jeffrey Pitts put his hands around the 80-year-old victim’s neck and held the woman down with her begging him to stop and get off of her.

Pitts is charged with aggravated assault, and exploitation or intimidation of the elderly.

He is also being held on a probation violation.

Man accused of assaulting another with a vehicle

An East Rome man is facing a felony aggravated assault charge following his arrest Thursday.

According to an arrest warrant:

25-year-old James Martin Thompson Jr. used his vehicle as a deadly weapon to cause serious injury to another man.

The incident occurred at a location on North Fourth Street in Lindale.

Woman charged with debit card fraud

A Rome woman is accused of using someone else’s debit card to rent a room at the Day’s Inn on Turner McCall Boulevard.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

37-year-old Margaret Louise Baldwin was still in the room at the time of her arrest on Thursday.

She is charged with a felony count of financial transaction card fraud.

Woman facing drug charges

A Cedartown woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail Thursday on drug charges.

According to jail records:

A vehicle driven by 28-year-old Amber Nicola Brannon was stopped by police on Turner McCall Boulevard at Hicks Drive for driving at night with no headlights on.

Police then found approximately seven grams of suspected methamphetamine, gabapentin pills, and glass pipes.

Brannon is charged with possession of meth, possession of a Schedule V controlled substance, possession of drug-related objects, a headlight violation, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Man charged with meth possession

An Armuchee man is facing a meth possession charge following his arrest Thursday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

47-year-old James Timothy Moore was found with suspected methamphetamine at a location on Pearson Road in the Coosa area.

He is also charged with a probation violation.

Report: Felon found with firearm

An Adairsville man wanted on a probation violation warrant is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

50-year-old Johnny Eugene Willis was found with four firearms during an encounter with law enforcement on Highway 53 at Todd Street in Shannon.
