Gordon Sheriff deputies arrest two for theft spree

According to a report by the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office, on November 27th, 2024 (at approximately 6:00 AM), deputies responded to a theft report involving a coin-operated air compressor at a convenience store near Calhoun. Witnesses described the suspects fleeing in a black Chevy SUV.

Around an hour later, deputies observed the suspects breaking into another machine at a convenience store in Calhoun. Additional officers arrived on the scene, and the suspects surrendered without incident.

A search of their vehicle revealed over $1,000 in quarters, a stolen license plate, a crowbar used in the break-ins, and a shop vac used to extract coins.

Further investigation led detectives to the suspects’ room at a local motel. A search warrant was executed, resulting in the discovery of several thousand dollars in quarters.

One of the suspects admitted to targeting similar machines in multiple states, from Maryland to Georgia.

The suspects were identified as:

  1. Wilbur Antonio Flores, 33, of Baltimore, MD
  2. Luis Viera, 33, of Brooklyn, MD

Both individuals were taken into custody and are facing multiple charges.
