-Rome Police Department News Release-
Just before 10:00 pm on Friday, emergency responders were called to the West Rome Walmart due to reports of a shooting incident.
According to the preliminary investigation, a domestic dispute was taking place outside of the Walmart store which led to one female being struck by a bullet.
The alleged shooter, now identified as David Davis, 31 of Rome, attempted to flee from the scene, nearly striking a witness to the incident, but was quickly apprehended by officers.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Davis has been charged with 3 counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, reckless conduct, discharge of a firearm on the property of another, reckless driving, and hit and run.
This incident is believed to be an isolated incident between familiar parties. Anyone with information that has not already been contacted by Rome Police Department investigators is encouraged to call 9-1-1.
