Chattooga Sheriff’s Office seek public’s assistance in investigation

According to a report by WZQZ radio, the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia State Patrol are seeking information about a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred early Saturday on Highway 114, south of Lyerly in the Chattoogaville area.

Chattooga County Sheriff, Mark Schrader, is asking for help from anyone who traveled on Highway 114 between Lyerly and Alabama between 4 AM and 6 AM on November 9.

The sheriff’s office is also collaborating with the Cherokee County, Alabama Sheriff’s Office.

No witnesses have come forward yet, and the victim has been identified as 27-year-old Austin Carnes of Lyerly.

Authorities urge the community to assist in uncovering the details of this tragic incident.
