Floyd County Press Release –

The Floyd County Tax Commissioner has announced that the 2024 property tax bills for Rome/Floyd County have been mailed out to residents.

Here are a few facts regarding Floyd County property taxes:

1. The due date is November 15th.

2. Floyd County always mails you a tax bill, even if you have an escrow that pays your taxes.

3. If you sold a property during the year, please forward the tax bill to the new owner.

4. Floyd County has a school tax exemption at age 65, but it does not eliminate all school taxes. If you’re over 65, you will likely have school taxes on your tax bill. It does save you about $700.

5. You can’t appeal your assessment now. That deadline was 3 months ago.

6. Partial payments are always accepted if you can’t pay the entire bill at one time.

7. The homestead tax break we received last year was a one-time tax reduction not renewed this year. This break saved most homeowners $500-600 dollars in 2023.
