Warrant: Convicted felon had firearm mounted to his ATV

A 63-year-old Coosa man was recently arrested at his Mays Bridge Road home on a felony warrant charging him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to the warrant:

Lawrence Oquinn Harvey had a Zig 1911 at a location on Big Texas Valley Road on August 23.

He had fashioned a holster to the side panel of a four-wheeler using zip ties to hold the firearm in place while operating the ATV.

Witnesses stated they had to take the gun away from Harvey because they were afraid he would use it against them following an accident.

Harvey is also accused of refusing to identify himself to authorities, resulting in an obstruction charge.

He is also charged with driving while unlicensed and no insurance.

Three facing drug charges following traffic stop in North Rome

A traffic stop for a window tint violation on North Broad Street ends with the arrest of three people on methamphetamine possession charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Meth was seized from the vehicle following a K9 indication.

30-year-old Courtney Brook Waits of Rome was also driving without insurance.

A passenger, 39-year-old Annie Rose Clement of Silver Creek, was found with fentanyl pills and was additionally charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. 

Another passenger, 30-year-old Drake Ladon Keef of Aragon, was additionally charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and unlawful possession of drugs by an inmate after he was found with marijuana during a search at the jail.

Report: Two caught with stolen vehicle

A Rome man and a Lindale woman were recently arrested in the area of Turner McCall and MLK Jr. Boulevard on charges of theft by receiving stolen property.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

42-year-old Jeffrey Taylor Gilreath and 44-year-old Desiree Starla Dean were in a 2019 Toyota Corolla that had been reported stolen.

Gilreath is additionally charged with the operation of a vehicle without registration or a current license plate, driving without insurance, fugitive from justice, and a probation violation.

Dean is also facing a couple of probation violations.
