Man charged with aggravated animal cruelty

A West Rome man is accused of intentionally running over a dog with his SUV.

According to an arrest warrant:

28-year-old Zaqueo Diongio Gonzales Vicente failed to stop at a stop sign and turned left onto Addington Drive where he struck one of two dogs that were standing in the road, dragging the animal underneath the vehicle.

He then left the dog in the street where it later died from its injuries.

Vicente is charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals, as well as misdemeanor counts of running a stop sign, failure to maintain a lane, and driving without a license.

Report: Woman threatened to shoot police officer in the face

A homeless woman is facing charges following a confrontation with police at Heritage Park.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

28-year-old Ayana Nicole Johnson threatened to get a gun and shoot an officer in the face.

She then spit on two officers and threatened to punch one in the face.

Johnson is charged with terroristic threats and acts, two counts of simple battery against a law enforcement officer, and four counts of obstruction.

Man charged with theft by receiving

Authorities say a Rome man was found with several stolen items during a burglary investigation.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

19-year-old Jatlyus Kirese Lowry had shoes and clothing at his Dodd Boulevard apartment that he should have known was stolen.

The value of the items was listed at more than $1,600.

Lowry is charged with theft by receiving stolen property and a couple of misdemeanor probation violations.

Man arrested on drug charge

A Cedartown man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Thursday on a possession of methamphetamine charge.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

24-year old James Michael Gray was found with meth at a location on Garden Avenue in Rome.
