A Resaca man is charged with second-degree vehicular homicide after authorities say he caused a fatal wreck on Rome Highway in Polk County on Thursday evening.
Jacob Pearson, 30, of Rome was killed when the motorcycle he was driving collided with the passenger side of a Jeep Cherokee as it turned in front of him northwest of Rockmart.
According to the Georgia State Patrol:
Pearson was traveling north on Ga. 101 around 6 p.m. when the Jeep, driven by Samuel William Johnston, 83, was traveling south and attempted to turn east onto Dean Road.
The motorcycle then hit the passenger side of the Jeep. Pearson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Johnston was arrested and charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and failure to yield while turning left, both misdemeanors. He was booked into Polk County Jail and released Friday on $2,000 bond.
