Georgia gas prices decreased compared to a week ago.

The average on Monday was $3.41 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline, which is 5 cents less than a week ago, 1 cent less than a month ago, but 15 cents more than this time last year.

t costs drivers an average price of $51.15 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians are now paying over $2.00 more to fill up at the pump compared to a year ago.

“Crude oil continues to trend under $80 a barrel, and demand appears to have slowed down, contributing to lower pump prices,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “AAA is set to reveal, on May 14th, how busy the roads in Georgia will be during the Memorial Day weekend. So stay tuned!”

Local averages on Monday were $3.28 in Floyd County, $3.31 in Chattooga County, $3.35 in Bartow County, $3.38 in Gordon County, and $3.39 in Polk County.

National Gas Price Average Fall at the Pumps

Gas prices posted a quiet week, with the national average drifting lower by 4 cents to $3.61 (subject to change overnight). According to data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand rose modestly from 8.62 million barrels a day to 8.79 last week. Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline stocks increased by nearly 1 million barrels to 228 million barrels.  Slack demand, rising supply, and falling oil prices could push pump prices lower in the coming weeks.
