A little relief at the pump as Georgia gas prices decreased compared to a week ago.
Drivers are paying an average price of $3.32 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline, which is 3 cents less than a week ago.
That is still 12 cents more than a month ago, and 10 cents more than this time last year.
It costs drivers an average price of $49.80 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians are now paying almost $2.00 more to fill up at the pump compared to a year ago.
“Georgians felt some relief at the pumps this Easter weekend,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “Amid rising crude oil prices, Georgia gas price average managed to drop a little at the pump. Low demand and slow-rising crude oil prices help to reduce gas prices. AAA continues to encourage drivers to follow the money-saving gas tips listed below.”
Local averages on Monday, according to AAA were $3.24 in Floyd County, $3.26 in Bartow County, $3.28 in Polk County, $3.31 in Gordon County, and $3.17 in Chattooga County.
Don’t Get April Fooled By Wobbling Gas Prices
Since last Monday, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has held steady at $3.53. Pump prices will likely resume a spring increase. The uncertainty of Ukraine targeting Russia’s oil infrastructure could also cause gas prices to rise within the coming weeks.
According to data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand dipped slightly from 8.81 to 8.72 million barrels a day last week. Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline stocks increased by 1.3 million barrels to 232.1 million barrels. Lower demand would typically contribute to pushing pump prices lower or slowing increases but rising oil prices have kept them elevated instead.
