Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) student Leah “Ana” Stone has received the Lindale Post 136 American Legion Scholarship.

Stone studies Welding and Joining Technology at GNTC’s Floyd County Campus in Rome; she received the scholarship for the spring 2024 term.

The scholarship honors the service of U.S. military members by supporting a GNTC student who is one of the following (in order of priority): veteran, child of veteran, spouse of veteran or grandchild of veteran. Stone’s mother is a veteran of the U.S. Army.

“At American Post 136, it is our pleasure to present this scholarship to Ana,” said Ron Pajor, finance officer of Lindale Post 136 American Legion and former specialist fifth class in the U.S. Army. “This scholarship is something we do on a continual basis, and we are proud to serve our community.”

“It is incredibly exciting that GNTC has partnered with the American Legion for this scholarship and the opportunity that this scholarship will help provide to our student,” said Josh Hickman, Student Life specialist at GNTC and former sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. “Knowing which direction to go post-military can be challenging for some veterans, but GNTC is here as a resource to help equip our veterans to become pivotal members of the workforce in their communities.”
