Area residents woke up to gusty winds, and heavy rains Tuesday morning.
Several trees and limbs were down, and police responded to many automobile accidents.
The National Weather Service reports that three and a half inches of rain has been recorded at the Richard B. Russell Regional Airport since midnight.

Between 7 pm and 4 am, there were two trees and one power line that fell. Those have since been removed.
Flood Warning for Chattooga River
The National Weather Service in Peachtree City GA has issued a Flood Warning for the Chattooga River at Summerville.
Moderate flooding is forecast.
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
From Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston:
Gordon County is feeling the effects of a major storm system that is impacting all of Georgia today. This system has brought heavy rain and potentially damaging winds.
Trees have been reported down on Taylortown Road and Oakman Road, and the rain appears to be intensifying.
Extra deputies have been deployed this morning in anticipation of severe weather.
Motorists are urged to be aware of the possibility of floodwaters and/or debris in the roadways, especially on secondary roads, and to exercise caution if travel is necessary.

There are eleven power outages in Floyd County, affecting 100 customers.
There are four outages in Gordon County, affecting 9 customers.
Another 16 outages have been reported in Bartow County, impacting 2.433 customers.
And nine customers are affected by a couple of outages in Polk County.
