The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded a total of 44 projects, worth approximately $27.6 million, ranging from resurfacing and reconstruction to bridge construction and safety projects.

A couple of bridge rehabilitation projects in Floyd County are included – the bridge on Highway 411 over Highway 27 at the Ledbetter Interchange and the bridge over Little Cedar Creek in Cave Spring.

The rehab will include an overlay of the bridge deck, joint replacement, patching spalls, encasing piles, epoxy injection of cracks, and painting beams.

The DOT has also awarded a contract for rumble strip upgrades at various locations in Floyd, Chattooga, Polk, and Paulding Counties, along with the installation of rumble strips at various locations in Gordon and Bartow Counties.

The awards list also includes wrong-way driving safety enhancements on I-75 in Gordon and Bartow Counties.

A project for guardrail improvements in Floyd County, on Highway 27 from Cedar Avenue to East Second Avenue and on Highway 411 from Highway 27 to Chateau Drive, was rejected.
