A man described as a ‘person of interest’ in the murder of a man whose body was found in a large toolbox in Polk County last month is now in custody.

39-year-old Nicholas Silvers of Gaylesville, Alabama was booked in at the Cherokee County Detention Center at around 10:35 Monday night on a burglary charge.

Meanwhile, 28-year-old Eric Hooper remains jailed on a $1.5 million dollar bond after being charged with murder.

He is charged in connection with the homicide of 40-year-old Lachancey Williams of Cedartown.

Williams’ body was found in the toolbox, by crews that were doing road work along Esom Hill Road in Polk County back on March 15.

It’s believed the murder actually occurred just outside of Centre.
