On Saturday evening the 2022 Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation’s Leprechaun-a-thon 5K and Health Walk presented by BODYARMOR took place downtown.

Participants were encouraged to wear as much green as possible while running in the foot race as well as decorate with lots of Leprechaun-themed running costumes.

The race began on First Avenue just down from Bridgepoint Plaza and covered portions of the Kingfisher Trail and the trails on the levee before finishing on the pedestrian bridge just before the Town Green and the Forum. The racecourse was USATF Certified and also serves as a Peachtree qualifier for the participants.

I spoke with Jackson Roper, one of the Leprechaun-a-thon 5k runners from the event, to see how he did in the race (see video above).

After the race came to a close the runners all joined together in front of the forum to receive their awards and also check out the massive bubble foam party on the town green.
