(Via WZQZ Radio) Right now, the only place to buy packaged liquor in Chattooga County is in the Town of Lyerly, but all of that could change if voters in Summerville approve a package liquor referendum this fall.

At Monday night’s Summerville City Council meeting, the council voted unanimously to put the question about package liquor on the November ballot for Summerville residents to vote on.

Also in November, voters will be voting on three council seats.  Seats one, two, and three will all be on the ballot.  Seat one is currently held by David Ford.  Seat two is currently held by Dana Windle Mosely and seat three is the seat that was recently vacated by Kristy Dennis.   Also, the mayor’s race will be on the ballot.

Qualifying for the council seats and mayor will be held Monday, August 16, 2021, through Friday, August 20, 2021, at Summerville City Hall from 8:30 AM until 5 PM Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM on Friday.
The qualifying fee for the Mayor’s seat is $216.00. The qualifying fee for a council seat is $108.00
